SARAH AILEEN

Sarah Aileen is a landscape painter, living and working on an island in the Pacific Northwest. Her paintings reflect the drama of the natural world. She draws inspiration from the coastlines, lakes, and pines around her, as well as from travels to other places across the country that share the same wild beauty. Her work emphasizes contrast, using light and shadow, and moving between the familiarity of a grounded scene and the expanse of an open sky or sea to create compositions that invite pause and reflection.
Her paintings are held in collections across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
My work is rooted in the stillness found near the sea, with a focus on contrast, simplicity, and a palette drawn from the natural world. Each painting captures a moment that invites pause; whether it’s a stretch of rugged coastline, a distant horizon, or the edge of a forest meeting the tide.
These pieces are created to bring a sense of calm and clarity to a space; equally at home in curated interiors or collected as a personal connection to the coast.

Favorite Hobby | Convincing everyone she meets that she hasn’t been fed in ages. The result has been an untold number of treats from sympathetic humans; notably: several ounces of sliced turkey from a bodega, countless freeze-dried liver treats, and a Milk-Bone intended for a dog four times her size.
